TODD PENCE TRIAL SET TO START IN DOUBLE FATALITY
January 28, 2003 - Chillicothe, OhioThe trial of a Ross County man charged with causing the deaths of 76-year-old Norma Pryor and her son, 46-year-old Richard Pryor was set to begin Wednesday morning with jury selection in front of Common Pleas Judge Jhan Corzine. The defendant, 36-year-old Todd Pence is charged with aggravated vehicular homicide in the two deaths which could send him to prison for up to 20 years if convicted.
Prosecutor Scott Nusbaum contends Pence was driving under the influence of alcohol when he crossed the center line and collided head-on with the Pryor auto July 1, 2001 on State Route 772 near Rinehart Road.
He was an ex-convict out on parole at the time who suffered severe abdominal injuries in the accident which put him in hospitals and rest homes for months at a time and delayed the progress of the case.
It also kept Pence out from behind bars because he required constant medical attention which couldn’t be provided in the local jail.
Finally, his parole was revoked last Sept. 20th after 30 relatives and friends of the two victims picketed and demonstrated in front of the Adult Parole Authority office.
