S.A.L.T. Council Celebrates 7 years
On February 9, 1999- 17 members of the community signed the agreement to form the local TRIAD. Triad is a partnership of three organizations - law enforcement, senior citizens, and community groups. The sole purpose of Triad is to promote senior safety and to reduce the unwarranted fear of crime that seniors often experience. The S.A.L.T. Council was formed to run the TRIAD. A mission was set to make life better in Ross County for the seniors by Sheriff Nichols. He appointed Lt. Dale Gillette as TRIAD Coordinator. Sheriff Nichols supports the Council in everything they do, and offers financial help when it is needed. Lt. Gillette leads the TRIAD and is always looking for new ideas to better seniors lives with any new program he can find. Deputy Pam McMurray serves as TRIAD Assistant to Lt. Gillette, assisting him and helping with the programs the Ross County Sheriffs Office run for TRIAD such as the R U OK? Program and Senior Cool Down. The celebration of TRIAD being together 7 years was held on February 14, 2006. The meeting was held at the Ross County Senior Center. Dr. Stephanie Winegardner, local Chiropractor was the guest speaker discussing issues of the spine. Cake was served after the meeting. Following the meeting to show appreciation to the S.A.L.T. Council members who are unable to be part of the meetings and events any more due to health reasons Valentines wishes were presented with a visit by a few of the council members. The members that were in a nursing home or similar facility received a Valentine Card from the other members along with a vase with 2 beautiful roses donated by Wal-Mart of Chillicothe Floral Department.
